A manhole camera has a pole located in the bottom of a manhole at the end of which there is a camera. The camera can zoom in an object at a distance to see clearly. Even if it cannot inspect at a best angle of the camera, it can inspect a conspicuous defect quickly. Also, only a worker can finish the inspection job with a manhole camera that is cheaper.

A manhole camera of a high specification improves the three functions. It can also inspect a pipe of 150mm diameter. Second, it calculates the distance of the inspected object. This function is done by an optical method or a laser method. A laser method of measuring a distance is quite precise. Finally, a camera can move up and down remotely.

A manhole camera for a general use has a zooming of 220 times, 410,000 pixels, and tilts up and down to 120 degrees discretely. PMP is 5.6 inch and can be used for 4 hrs. A manhole camera of a high specification has the same specifications as that of a general use described above and also has the high specifications indicated in the above section.

TAP has already exported its manhole cameras for a general use. It consists of a camera, a lighting part, a telescopic pole, a controller, a battery, and a PMP for monitoring and recording. A camera can zoom in and move up and down. A lighting part consists of two halogen lamps where one is for a near object and the other is for a distant. A telescopic pole can extend to 4.5m. A worker can tie a controller with a waist belt and a PMP with a neck belt. So, only one worker can do an inspection job with a manhole camera.
